Itinerary
This week we will be creating art from the environment around us, pressing flowers, crushing vegetables to make fabric dye and carving wood. We will even use wool from the sheep and hair from the horses and of course collect feathers the geese and hens have molted.
Parents will need to make extra room in the car as today we will be making our own stools from logs. The children will select a comfy log, sand the top smooth and decorate it however they would like ready to take home and sit on for years to come.
We will be making wild instruments out of wood, seeds, horse hair, feathers and anything else we can find. After lunch Oli our resident musician will lead everyone in a rhythmic percussion workshop.
Back by popular demand today we will make decoupage art from funky initials to go on your door to replicas of our farm animals there is no limit to what you can create. We will even have a go at using pressed flowers as well as tissue paper.
We will explore natural dies on canvas. Crushing chalk, flowers, vegetables, clay and anything else we can get our hands on. After lunch we'll clean up and head outside for some pony riding and while children wait for their turn they can keep bust decorating jump poles in vibrant colours.
Today we will collect sticks and roast them in tins to make charcoal pencils in our Friday bonfire. We will also make clay pots and see what happens when we heat them in a fire pit. If we are lucky we might end up with pots and charcoal pencils to put in them!
